Arts In Action day

Today, a friend and I decided to go to the annual Arts in Action show/displays at Waterperry House near Oxford. It's all about getting different types of artists to show their wares, do demos, plus there're practical classes to try and music to listen to.

Luckily the weather held off as it was all in marquees. However we were a little disappointed as we were expecting more demos/people working at their stands, and more opportunities to buy some supplies on different types of crafts - too much of it was art/painting based.

Neither of us bought much - some of the work was not really our cup of tea, although some of the jewellery work was stunning (my favourite piece was £3500!)...most work was very out of price range for what we expected. The best bit was the lovely Waterperry Gardens Apple juice we tried, and watching the glass blowing demo.

It was a nice morning out, but definitely won't be going again - a bit too museum like in the displays for us.

Stamp win

I love entering competitions, and have been winning quite a few small things recently now I'm back on the comp entering roll again. A few weeks ago I received a glitter glue product from a cardmaking magazine, and yesterday I got another parcel. This one was a lovely 'Expecting Nikki' clear stamp. Perfect for making congratulations cards for pregnancies.

Realised I've got a couple of birthdays coming up - so picked out a couple of cards for those. Also, decided that I'd make a bracelet for one of them. I've not used any of the vintage brass findings yet, so initially struggled to decide what colours to use but am really pleased with how it turned out. So much so, I'm not sure I want to give it away.

Loving 'charm' bracelets

I just love charm style bracelets with loads and loads of beads to make them jingle when you're wearing them. I made a couple today to put up on Misi (if I decide not to keep them, that is!)
I also fancied mixing some turquoise with silver beads & spaces, and ended up making a whole set. Think it's one of my favourites so far - helped by the fact that I love the colour turquoise.

Week off meant lots of card making

Selection of a couple of my favourite recent makes, using my lovely Promarkers and some fabulous papers I love.

Misi shop now open

After having to turn down a school fete stall (clash of date, no display equipment, no time to prepare/make more stock etc, plus very scary as haven't done anything like that before) to sell my jewellery, have decided I seriously need to sell some of my jewellery to free up some space in our utility room where all my craft supplies are currently stored. Will please my husband, and hopefully get back some of the money I've spend on supplies over the past few years.

So have set up my Misi shop. Bit scary, and my photos could do with some work...but I think it'll be good to get an idea of what people like as well as hopefully selling some items.

Have decided only to do jewellery given that it's much easier to post compared to cards, plus I can sell some of my cards on the B&B anyway.
